How are we all doing this sunny Sunday (in Melbourne, anyway)? Today, I have a review of the Milani Paint Eyeshadow Palette to share with all of you. This palette is actually part of a limited edition collection that came out in July 2011. When I first heard about the release last year, I was quite interested in picking it up; however, I ended up getting a little distracted and forgetting about it until recently. This palette contains about 10g of eyeshadow and retails for about $15 AUD from Australian stockists (like Crush Cosmetics) or approximately $8 USD from American stockists. You can also have a look on eBay to see if you can pick one up at a better price.
As seen in the photos above, you get seven matte, neon shades (hot pink, white, orange, yellow, purple, cobalt blue and mint green) all housed in one fun and compact palette. It reminds me a little of something an artist might produce while mixing paints together! I like this palette as it's quite rare to get neon shades in a matte formula, and I also like that it is all housed in a small flip-top palette that fits in the palm of your hand, it makes it very easy to carry around. Let's take a look at some swatches; these were all applied dry over bare skin, so it will definitely appear more vibrant when applied over primer or with a wet brush.

Pros:
A fun and funky palette that adds a splash of colour to any collection.
Matte formulation which is quite rare for neons.
Quite wearable for daily use, and you can apply with a wet brush for more vibrant colour.
Packaged in a handy and compact case.
Quite affordable, given that you get seven shadows for approximately $15 AUD.
Cons:
It is a bright palette, so if you're not into brights, then this isn't the one for you.
The matte formula can create a bit of fall out, and can be a bit hard to work with if you're not used to mattes.
As you might imagine, it's quite easy to create a bright look with this palette, but I wanted to do a more subtle EOTD to demonstrate how versatile this palette is. I was experimenting with my camera and different settings/lighting conditions, so it does come out looking quite different in all the photos. Overall though, it's quite a wearable look and not too 'out there', in fact, I received a couple of compliments when I wore this out to dinner.
This is using the white in the inner corner, orange in the middle of the lid, and pink in the outer corner, with the blue blended through the crease. I also added a bit of the white right under the brow, before finishing off with Essence black gel liner.
What do you think of this palette, lovelies? Love it or leave it?
Much love,
MM.

Oh wow! That palette totally caught my eye! Must admit I don't usually wear brights but I'd buy this as an inexpensive collectable piece for those rare just in case occasions...
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean! Plus it's so pretty, it adds a bit of zing to any collection. ;)
DeleteAbsolutely gorgeous! What a pretty palette
ReplyDeleteThank you, it certainly is!
Deletegreat review! love the palette and it will be perfect for summer!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I agree, perfect for summer (although heck, I'd use it in winter too). :P
DeleteThe colours are gorgeous! Unfortunately the formula has to be super easy to work with for me because I have fragile crepey eyelids and I am a complete eyeshadow clutz.
ReplyDeleteThey are! I understand your predicament...but I think matte formulas will be much better for you and it's easy enough to sweep away fall out. :)
DeleteThere's only one way to find out! ;)
LOVE the swatches look pretty good actually. Love your eye look too, great that it can create a subtle look as well as bright looks.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, BM! I know, I love how versatile this palette is...can't wait to give it a try with some of the darker matte shadows I've recently picked up. Stay tuned! xx
DeleteLooks gorgeous! I've actually had my eye on this one for a little while, but darn spending ban! :P
ReplyDeleteThat EOTD looks fantastic though! :)
xx
It will be over soon enough! Hang in there! And thank you! xx
DeleteIt's quite sheer, when I heard that it was a paint palette, I was thinking thicker creamier textures as well. Looks good on you though!!
ReplyDeleteI've tagged you for the Liebster in case you want to do it!
Thanks, hun! I will definitely be adding the Liebster to my to-do blogging list!
