Product Review: Sally Hansen Fuzzy Coat and Swatches.

Hello lovelies,

Textured nails certainly look like they are here to stay; I've shown you several Liquid Sand polishes in the past, and we've also gone through various phases with caviar, glitter and sugar nails...which is why I jumped at the chance to try the latest offering from Sally Hansen - Fuzzy Coat nails!

When I first heard the term 'Fuzzy Coat', I expected them to be similar to velvet nails, just easier to apply (and perhaps a bit more long-wearing). In actuality though, these polishes are more like glitter polishes, except with plastic, matte bar particles to simulate a woolly/fibrous texture, like that of cashmere or mohair!

I was sent three different shades to try; Peach Fuzz (pale yellow and peach bar glitter), Tight Knit (blue and white bar glitter) and Tweedy (black and white bar glitter). What I love most is that the glitter particles are suspended in a clear base, which makes it perfect for layering with different undies (i.e. under different layered polishes, not knickers)! I personally like it when these are layered over contrasting shades. You can still choose to use them on their own for a unique look, but it's hard to reach a fully opaque look so you can still see a bit of visible nail layer underneath.

Prepare for photo overload!

Here is Peach Fuzz on it's lonesome, this seemed to intrigue the guys I work with as I received quite a few comments on my nails (not to mention some awkward patting of my nails)!

Last but not least, my personal favourite of all three (I think it's the black and white combination which just calls to me)...Tweedy! I chose to pair this with Ulta 3 Calypso Holiday.

The application is really easy, the brush picks up a generous helping of the bar glitter and distributes it evenly over your nail with each stroke. You do have to be careful not to let the glitter pieces extend over the edge of your nail, but that's easily avoided.

Removal is a lot easier when the fuzzy coat polishes are layered over different bases, they come off a bit easier than your standard glitter polish does. Removal is quite difficult when three layers are used, though, I had to resort to the 'soak-off' method, but found that the glitter pieces came off very easily after a few minutes. The only other thing to watch out for is you can get quite a bit of fall out with the bar glitter, so be careful not to make a mess when removing these polishes!

The Sally Hansen Fuzzy Coat polishes are available in seven shades (view them all here), and retail for $9.95; however, Priceline currently have them on sale for $6.95! Walk, don't run! You can also purchase them from standard Sally Hansen stockists like Target and selected pharmacies.

Much love,
MM.

  1. That is so cute, especially layered on top of a contrasting base. Better start growing and taking care of my nails for some bright spring manicures! x

  9. Hi Nalini! How do these actually feel on your nails - i.e. does it feel pleasantly fuzzy or rough? I really like the combo of base + top coat that you have chosen, especially the 6th image down! :)

    Have a great week xxx

    1. They are a little rough, but nothing a good topcoat doesn't fix! :)

Do you mean Tight Knit over Tangerine Tango? It's such a fun combination! :)

  10. I am not sure I love this range. it kind of makes me feel like the nails are a bit too fuzzy.. just my opinion. I love a matte colour on the nails with the occasion glitter moment ha. Mind you, I like that aqua look- more my thing!

  11. Can I please stroke your nails, Nalini? Pretty please? XD I'm really curious. Do they really feel like "fur"?

    1. Ty, you are welcome to stroke my nails ANYTIME, sweetie! LOL!

No, they really don't feel like fur...they just feel like the standard glitter on nails, a little bit textured/rough in finish, but nothing a good topcoat doesn't even out! :)

  12. I like the black and white fuzz too. I wish they would have the furry feel...that would be so awesome, but maybe a little creepy at the same time :) Great review and photos N!
