February 2014 Lust Have It Review!

It's that time of the month again, when the beauty boxes roll out!

I'm a bit behind on posting about the January LHI box, mainly because it arrived a bit late due to problems LHI had with their warehouse, so I thought I'd just do a mini-review right at the end of this post. I didn't mind the January box, but I'm pleased to say that the February box was much more satisfying!

The February box arrived in a simple cardboard box (LHI are changing their packaging again), so read on to see what I received (apologies for the photos but I lost daylight and had to take them in the rather jaundiced light of my bedroom).

Love Thy Polish | Part 2 - Fauxreal Fuschia & Halo.

Welcome to Part 2 of my Love Thy Polish swatchathon! You can find the link to Part 1 here, where I showed you Pink Sands and Spot the Pink. In this post, I'm going to introduce you to Fauxreal Fuschia (and yes, that's the name, I didn't spell that wrongly) and the gorgeous Halo!

Fauxreal Fuschia is a deep, fuchsia jelly polish with suspended black glitter. From the Speckled n' Freckled Collection, it looks a little muddy in the bottle, but translates to a gorgeous, sexy shade on the nails. It's a little sheer, so you could wear it over a deeper shade for full opacity, or layer 3 thin coats as I did for the photos below. Like all the others, I found this to be a dream to apply, the brush was extremely manoeuvrable and applied the polish well.

Love Thy Polish | Part 1 - Pink Sands & Spot the Pink.

It's the weekend, woot! To kick things off, I've got four gorgeous new polishes from Aussie indie brand, Love Thy Polish, for your viewing (and purchasing) pleasure! As these are going to be quite photo-heavy, I'm going to break them up into two parts and post them one after the other, so here's the link to Part 2.

In case you were wondering, all of the polishes from Love Thy Polish are 3-free (free from DBP, formaldehyde and toluene). The polishes I'm about to show you are from the Speckled n' Freckled Collection, and were only released for sale a few days ago, so run, don't walk!, before they sell out!

First up, we have Pink Sands, a soft pink creme with suspended black glitter. I found this to be a dream to apply, with the black glitter dispersing quite easily with each brush stroke. I used two coats for the photos below. Pink Sands reminds me a little of Scarce from the Illamasqua range (reviewed here), except it's a little stronger in shade.

Hi lovelies!

Have you heard of Curtis Collection by Victoria before? In case you haven't, it's an Australian-owned, boutique makeup brand that's been in the beauty news a fair bit of late...the brand promises high quality products with incredibly staying power, and also features a mineral collection that promises to add a touch of luxury to your day while the ingredients work at treating your skin.

I'd been aware of the brand for a while, so I was thrilled when I was offered the chance to trial some of the products. I was sent two baked blushers in Golden Goddess and Bombshell, a mineral shimmer blush in Coral Queen and a baked matte bronzer in Bronzed Goddess.

First up, let's discuss the packaging of all four compacts. I really liked it; it was simple, yet functional and sturdy, with the clear window allowing you to see which product you were picking up. The 'click' closure ensures that the compact wouldn't accidentally open if you carried it in your handbag.

I'll be honest, my January Her Fashion Box arrived almost a week ago, but it took me a while to blog about it because it left me feeling...well, a bit underwhelmed.
