Have you heard of Curtis Collection by Victoria before? In case you haven't, it's an Australian-owned, boutique makeup brand that's been in the beauty news a fair bit of late...the brand promises high quality products with incredibly staying power, and also features a mineral collection that promises to add a touch of luxury to your day while the ingredients work at treating your skin.
I'd been aware of the brand for a while, so I was thrilled when I was offered the chance to trial some of the products. I was sent two baked blushers in Golden Goddess and Bombshell, a mineral shimmer blush in Coral Queen and a baked matte bronzer in Bronzed Goddess.

First up, let's discuss the packaging of all four compacts. I really liked it; it was simple, yet functional and sturdy, with the clear window allowing you to see which product you were picking up. The 'click' closure ensures that the compact wouldn't accidentally open if you carried it in your handbag.
Keep reading after the jump!
The mineral shimmer blush in Coral Queen is a pretty coral shade with a slight gold cast. It also has fine microglitter particles which reflect light in quite a flattering way, without the dreaded disco ball effect. Something about this shade is a little reminiscent of the famous NARS Orgasm or Sleek Rose Gold, and would look gorgeous on fair to medium skintones. I got about 6 hours of wear with this before I noticed minimal fading.
The baked blush in Golden Goddess is deep, plummy shade with a gold cast. Like most baked blushers, this was very flattering on, and incredibly pigmented! It's probably my favourite of all the shades, simply because I prefer my blushers to be quite pigmented. I think this shade would be best on medium to dark skintones due to the depth of colour. I actually use this by lightly touching my brush to the top, so as not to pick up too much product. I get about 10 hours of wear from this.
The baked blush in Bombshell is a pretty, pink shade that's fairly similar to Coral Queen, only with more pink to it. It's also very pigmented, and would look lovely on fair to medium tones. As with Golden Goddess, I can get about 10 hours of wear from this.
The baked bronzer in Bronzed Goddess is a lovely looking product with its swirly design, but unfortunately, it's a shade that doesn't appear on my skin at all! As a result, I think it would be a great contour product for fair skintones, but is something that medium to deep skintones should probably skip. The good news, though, is that there are two other shades available in the collection, so there should be something to fit most skintones.
Here are some swatches to give you an idea of what the colours look like.
In case you're wondering, the products do have a slight scent to it, which I'd classify as a powdery floral scent. It's not too strong and it does fade quite quickly, but it's just something to consider if you have a sensitive nose!
Overall, I'm very impressed with the Curtis Collection by Victoria products, and I'm definitely keen to look at the rest of the collection.
The shimmer blush retails for $28, the baked blushers retail for $35 and the baked bronzer retails for $49.95. While I think the price of the blushers is quite reasonable, I find the price of the bronzer a little on the steep side. You can visit their Facebook page for more information, and shop the collection on their website or by visiting a stockist (they also have a list of stockists in New Zealand!).
What do you think of these blushers, lovelies? Have you tried any of the products in the collection? If so, are there any you think I should look out for?
Much love,
MM.

ReplyDeleteI do too, a few years ago baked blushers were really common...now it's quite rare!
DeleteThey look gorgeous! I have not heard of this brand before, but I'm sure it won't be long before it's of more a known brand :)
ReplyDeleteHopefully, they really do deserve a bit more publicity! :)
DeleteThey look beautiful! What's the wear time like for these babies?
ReplyDeleteAbout 10 hrs for the baked blush and about 6 ish for the mineral shimmer blush. :)
DeleteI've been wanting to buy their products for a while (I was thinking of getting one of their value packs) but had trouble last year finding any reviews on the products (like their foundation). Might need to check out their products online again :)
