*May 2014 Her Fashion Box Review!

Hello lovelies,

I've got one last Her Fashion Box review to show you...because I've unsubscribed for now! My last reviewed box was the January one, as the February box arrived after I had left on my travels. I then asked them to skip March and send out April, which arrived only a couple of weeks before this *May box turned up on my desktop!
While I've enjoyed subscribing to Her Fashion Box for the most part, there are a couple of issues I had with my subscription, which is what led to me deciding to take a break for now. Firstly, the necklace I got in my December box was missing several parts, so HFB offered to send out a replacement pair of earrings instead. Keeping in mind this was all discussed in January...the earrings simply failed to arrive for one reason or another until they finally showed up with this box! Four.Months.Later. To be fair, they did try to make up for the stuffing around by sending me this complimentary box, but it was a bit inconvenient having to send multiple emails back and forth when the earrings kept failing to arrive.
The boxes have been arriving later and later, often well into the month after, which sometimes feels a little annoying. I think I'd have kept subscribing if they had a pure accessories box, but as a beauty blogger and product junkie, I'm pretty much on overload with beauty products as it is. I may decide to take it up again in the future, or I may not. It's all left to be seen. Anyhow, let's take a look at the contents of the *May 2014 HFB. This box was part of a collaboration with Aussie designer Nicola Finetti, so all subscribers received a collaboration cosmetic bag in the satchel. Here's everything I received in this box:

Nicola Finetti for Her Fashion Box Cosmetic Bag (full sized)
House of Holland Heart Breaker False Nails (full sized)
Bioderma Crealine & Sebium H20 Cleansing Water (deluxe samples)
label.m Texture Wax Stick (full sized)
CLOVA body scrub + bath sprinkle (deluxe sample)
Her Fashion Box Feminine Spring Gold Cuff (full sized)
Her Fashion Box Feminine Immortal Ear Cuff (full sized)

On to photos...

What did I think of this box? I loved it! There was something in there for everyone!

I really loved the accessories in this month's box, they had to be my favourite items. I tend to favour simple, statement items on my wrist, so this cuff fits that perfectly. While it is a little large, it can be tightened to better fit my wrist, and it will go brilliantly with some of the other accessories in my collection. I also really love the pretty and feminine ear cuff. In fact, I'm going to try and wear it out tomorrow night!

With regards to the beauty samples, I love Bioderma so I'm really happy to see it in the box, particularly in cute travel sizes (not that I'm planning any other travels anytime soon, but one can never say, hey?). The CLOVA scrub + bath sprinkle looks interesting, and I like that I can use it as a body scrub since I don't have a tub. My hair is really long but I'm looking forward to using the label.m texture stick on flyaways, I seem to always have a lot of baby hairs sticking up and I'm hoping this might fix it! Last but not least, I don't mind giving the false nails a go, as they look really fun! These are available from Priceline, and come in several other patterns, so it's good that they're readily available.

Last but not least, my replacement earrings finally arrived with this box! These are called the Snow White earrings and I'd fallen in love with them when I saw them in the December feminine box. They did arrive slightly bent but I managed to fix it, and I've already worn them out twice because they are so pretty!

Truth be told, I was almost on the verge of resubscribing after this box...until I realised that a new payment had been taken out of my bank account when I have been unsubscribed for months! Gah. I did email HFB to ask for a refund but have yet to receive a reply. Stay tuned, lovelies, the drama continues.

What did you think of this box, lovelies? Did you like the items in it? Are you subscribed to HFB?

Much love,
MM.
x

    1. I am with you on that one, Aimee.

It's just been weird, one thing after another!

  2. Gosh it really sounds like you've been through a lot of troubles with them. It's really sad to see such a great box have not-so-great customer service. (Not that they're not lovely, or anything, just the system issues and stuff they have.)

    1. Yes, there has been a bit of to'ing and fro'ing with these guys!

I know, they are lovely, it's just been ...very glitchy, which makes it a bit frustrating.

    1. The cuff, did you mean? The earrings were a replacement for a necklace that broke from the Dec box!

I think the sub boxes can be a bit hit and miss, depending on the month. I tend to make it a rule of thumb that if I like one or two items, it's a win for me. :)

  4. The BIoderma goodies are too cute! The House of Holland nails look interesting too.

I don't subscribe to boxes anymore and have to say I havent' missed them either. Too much clutter, too many products and I'd rather spend money on what I need/want :) xx

    1. Aren't the BD samples adorable? :D

I have to say I agree with you...it's lovely to get a little surprise treat in the mail every now and then but it's also very easy for everything to pile up in little mountains on your lounge floor...*ahem*. :P

  6. This looks like a really nice box, and those earrings are pretty... plus those Bioderma samples do look cute! But hopefully they let you unsubscribe without a fuss! It can be such a pain!

    1. Thanks, Saba! Those earrings (the Snow White ones) were actually a replacement pair from another box, and not part of this month's box though. :)

  7. I love the little makeup bag but I hate when companies print their names right on the front like that, it just seems so tacky, why not just let people enjoy their stunning little designer bag without stamping the ugly her fashion box name on it!?!

A sub box like this sounds like it would suit me well but If I was sent any broken or bent jewellery I would be so pissed.

    1. Haha, I hear you on that one. I don't mind this too much, but I do know exactly what you mean and it's bothered me on some other bags before!

I get that accidents happen in transit that can't be helped...but it can be frustrating when it drags on for a few months.
