I received my August Lust Have It this past Friday, so it was running a bit late again last month. The August box was the birthday box so I had certain expectations of it; let's take a look at what I received, shall we?
BioElixia Body Shaper Stretch Mark Diminishing Cream (full sized)
Essenzza Fuss Free Naturals Face Wipes in Green Tea and Vitamin C (full sized + mini wipes)
ELEVEN Australia Miracle Hair Treatment (full sized)
Bioderma Crealine H20 (deluxe sample)
MARSK eyeshadow brush (full sized)
There was also a handful of discount vouchers and pamphlets which I probably won't use. Everything was packaged in the pretty pink mesh bag we received from previous months (pictured below).

So what did I think of the birthday box?
Well, the value is there and the products in this month's box are great. However, to be completely honest, it did leave me feeling a little flat because there just wasn't anything that truly stood out to me personally, particularly when LHI have put out some pretty great boxes in the past.
The ELEVEN hair treatment is a great product (I already have this in full size and it smells like pineapples), but we did receive a deluxe sample of it in the May 2013 LHI box. Still, it's always nice receiving a full sized product! I love Bioderma, but received a couple of these samples in a recent Her Fashion Box. Now, we could let that go since it's not LHI's fault if we're subscribed to multiple boxes, but we actually received the very same miniature sample in May 2012 from LHI. Yes, I realise this was some time ago for both the ELEVEN and the Bioderma, but it would've been a bit more exciting, particularly as its the birthday box, if there hadn't been two repeats from previous years.
BioElixia is a brand we've seen before in previous LHI boxes, but not this particular product, and it's always nice receiving an expensive product in full size. I certainly have stretch marks so I'd like to say I'll be industrious about using it, but who am I kidding; I'll probably forget to do it regularly! The MARSK eyeshadow brush is pretty soft, so I'll add it to my stash of makeup brushes. Last but not least, the Essenzza wipes. It's kind of cute that we received a mini pack of these together with the full sized ones. I don't generally use makeup wipes to take my makeup off, but this sounds rather interesting with a textured side to remove dirt/makeup and a smooth side to finish off cleansing.
Overall, I think it's a great box, with fantastic value and four full sized products to boot. Unfortunately, it just seems a little bit uninspired to me personally, particularly when it's supposed to be a little bit special due to the birthday.
What do you think of this box, lovelies? If you're subscribed, were you happy with it? If you're not, would you have been happy to receive it?
Much love,
MM.

I can see why long time subscribers might be a little disappointed. I personally found this box really great because I think I'll be able to use all the products :)
ReplyDeleteDon't get me wrong, it's a great box with great products, and terrific value. I'm glad you will be able to use all the products, it's the best feeling with these sub boxes! :)
DeleteIt's certainly a little uninspired for a birthday box, but I'm getting great use out of mine!
ReplyDeleteGreat post!
DeleteThey definitely are great products, and it's always nice getting full sized items too! I think a makeup item would've 'made' this box!
DeleteThanks, Angela!
