January 2016 Lust Have It Review!

Hi lovelies!

It's been some time since I've been able to share a LHI review, what with being away and everything, so I'm actually happy to be getting back to it! It's quite the little treat to have a mystery bag of beauty goodies arriving every month, and I've fallen in love with some new favourites this way.

The January box arrived in a pretty pink mesh travel bag, as always. Here's what I received:

UNANI Micellar Water (full sized)

HIKARI lip crayon in Amour (full sized)

HIKARI blush in Sunkissed (full sized)

SKINYOGA Almond Orange face scrub (deluxe sample)

SKINYOGA Sandalwood Saffron face mask (deluxe sample)

There was also an ORCHID from Paradise Cherry Blossom hand cream, which was supposed to have been in the December box but was sent in this box instead.

January 2016 Lust Have It Box.
First up, the samples from Skinyoga! I thought they were really cute! The little boxes were tied together and had quite an 'au naturale' feel to it. Being an environmental engineer, I have to admit that little things like this really do make my day! I'm not a terribly environmentally conscious person but it's nice to see packaging that has a bit of an environmental feel about it! There was a tiny, adorable glass bottle in each box with a sample of the face mask and scrub. I quite liked the packaging and it's definitely made me more keen to try the products!

There was also a full sized micellar water in the box, courtesy of UNANI. I've never come across this brand before but I quite like micellar water for when it comes to fixing makeup mistakes, or when I'm too lazy to cleanse with my usual Shu Uemura cleansing oil, so I'll be keen to try this and see how it compares to my steady favourites from Bioderma and Sephora. I haven't tried the hand cream yet but I do love the cherry blossom scent, so I'll definitely be opening this once some of my current hand creams finish.

The HIKARI products immediately caught my attention, as I'm a bit of a magpie when it comes to anything makeup. The lip crayon is beautiful, a pigmented, smooth red that's comfortable to wear on the lips.

The blush, however, is a bit of a let-down for me, but only because the pigmentation is so sheer. I can see this looking beautiful on incredibly fair skin tones...but it looks more like a highlighter on my skintone than a blush, as you can see in the swatch photo below! I'll probably be passing this on to a friend!

So what did I think of this month's box?

I really liked it, and I think there's terrific value there, with a variety of products that span skincare and makeup. Subscribers this month are introduced to a few new brands that we've never tried before, and the products are things that most women would already have in their routine (like hand creams, makeup remover and makeup).

I'm already a big fan of the lipstick in particular, so I'll be keeping my eye out for more products from the HIKARI range. We were given an eyeshadow palette from the brand in a previous box, and that was also quite pretty!

What did you think of the box, lovelies? Were you a fan?

Much love,
MM.

  2. As much as I've been a huge supporter of LHI in the past (and good as this box is!), my interest in it is waning a little. This IS a cute box, though!
